Description

The Naval Air Systems Command intends to modify the PCMCIA cards to host the eTAWS algorithm on a sole source basis from Smiths Aerospace Incorporated, Electronic Systems-Germantown division, Germantown, MD. This procurement will incorporate eTAWS on a PCMCIA card common to the AN/ASQ-215 Digital Data Set (DDS) and Advanced Memory Unit (AMU), provide an additional 500 MB of Flash memory, add a Digital Signal Processor, and incorporate a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Smiths, as sole designer and developer of the DDS and AMU, is the only company with the necessary background, knowledge and experience to modify the cards. See Numbered Note 22.
