- Description
- This is a synopsis to advertise a requirement for the Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB CA. The requirement is for a two-channel baseband signal processing unit that will provide postdetection diversity branch selection (no-hit select and hold) as an alternative to diversity branch combining in receiving stations used for point-to-point air-to-ground data telemetry. This diversity branch selector (DBS) shall receive a reconstructed serial data stream (with coherent bit rate strobe clock) and, periodic serial digital signal quality estimates from each of two similar receiver sets. The role of the DBS is to continuously analyze the transmission quality signals from both receivers, periodically make decisions on relative and absolute diversity branch health and systematically consolidate the pair of reconstructed data streams into one data stream that represents a best attempt to bypass bit decision errors that may have occurred in one channel while the other was error free or producing a lower bit error rate. The DBS must automatically identify and compensate for differential transmission delays through the airline and receiving sets. In addition the DBS must accomplish its function at data rates up to 20 Mb/s (minimum) and automatically adapt to the data rate in use. The Government anticipates the award of a five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract. This will be a full and open competition. The Solicitation number is F04611-02-R-0024. The anticipated date of release for the solicitation is 15 May 2002.
