- NOTE: THIS REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED! The Social Security Administration (SSA), Southeastern Program Service Center, (SEPSC), 2001 12th Avenue, North, Birmingham, AL 35285 has a requirement for a contractor to provide Armed Guard Services at the facility. The contractor will be responsible for maintaining an environment in which citizens and Government employees can conduct business. The facility includes the building, roadways, sidewalks and parking lots on approximately 1.2 million square feet of grounds. The building occupies approximately 620,000 square feet of office space and contains the offices of approximately 2,000 SSA employees. The contractor will be responsible for manning posts, traffic control, security & fire systems and other duties required to maintain a secure environment. This is a restricted competitive procurement. Offers are being solicited only from small business concerns participating in the Small Business Administration's (SBA) 8(a) Program. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 561612. The size standard for this NAICS code is $10.5 million. The SSA anticipates awarding a Firm-Fixed Price contract for this effort. The period of performance will be for one (1) twelve (12) month base year with four (4) twelve (12) month option years. This requirement will be procured utilizing procedures in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 - Acquisition of Commercial Items and Part 15 - Contracting by Negotiation. It is anticipated that the Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued on or about April 16, 2002. The RFP will be issued under Solicitation No. SSA-RFP-02-0501. The solicitation and any related documents for this procurement will be made available to interested parties through electronic media available for downloading via the internet at Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. No paper copies of the solicitation will be available. The GSA Form 176 mentioned in the solicitation is available via the internet at www.gsa.gov. The FD 258, Applicant Fingerprint Card will be made available upon request. Potential offerors shall be responsible for monitoring the internet site for release of the solicitation, amendments (if any), and responses to any questions submitted in accordance with the solicitation provisions.
