- Description
- The USDA Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory located in Madison, WI, proposes to enter into a firm-fixed price contract to construct a complete Fire Test Laboratory Building Addition. The building square footage is 1,120 sq. ft. Site work consists of clearing all debris, wooden beams, burned specimens, drums, etc. from the site. Removing all steam, gas, water and other piping from area of the existing building up to log soaking tank. Cap pipes at corner above existing pavement. Removal of pump and motor, including wires, junction boxes, piping, valves and salvage of pump and motor. Removal of entire concrete pad. Removal of wooden covers from top of log soaking tank. Saw cut and removal of concrete tank portion. Construction of new concrete end wall. Backfill of tank pit and thorough tamping. Saw cut of existing asphalt paving prior to excavation for foundation of building without damage to existing footings. Removal of step at NE corner of existing east wing of building. Block NE window in existing east wing using matching CMU. Coordination of electrical utility work with utility company and Government. Complete new building with all utilities in place to be connected to furnaces and other equipment before actual shifting of equipment from old wing to new building. Ten alternate deduct items will be listed to provide the Government the flexibility of a best value decision within the budgetary funding allotted. The Government reserves the right to select whichever combinations, or all deduct items, at award of the contract. The magnitude of the construction is between $100,000 and $250,000. NAICS code 23331--Manufacturing and Industrial Building Construction applies to this procurement. The performance period is 140 calendar days. This project will be issued on an unrestricted basis in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program as stated in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 19, and the USDA OSDBU Set-Aside Program for FY 2002. Award decision will be based on price, contractor past performance, experience and technical ability. Past performance factors when combined with technical ability and experience are approximately equal to price.
