Description
This project includes the towing to and from current locations, dry-docking and hull maintenance work for two steel barges. Work on the Nakwasina barge includes the replacement of two 1,800 gallon diesel fuel tanks, interior and exterior hull preparation and painting, electrical installations and upgrades, marine sanitation device (MSD) replacement, interior flooring installation (on steel deck), water tank interior preparation and painting, and service to hydraulic system. Work on the Chickamin barge is limited to the replacement of two 1,250-gallon fuel tanks with new Steel Tank Institute Flameshield tanks of similar capacity. The Chickamin barge is located in Chomondely Sound, Prince of Wales Island, Southeast Alaska approximately 32 km southwest of Ketchikan, Alaska. The Nakwasina barge is located in Petersburg, Alaska. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which will be considered. When considering bids for this project, the government will consider the higher costs of administering the contract by adding an inter-port differential to bids received from contractors outside of the immediate vicinity of Ketchikan, Alaska. The contract time will be 90 calendar days. The estimated price range for the project is between $250,000 and $500,000. The Government will conduct a pre-bid tour of the Nakwasina barge on May 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. The Nakwasina barge is located at the Forest Service dock adjacent to the U.S. Coast Guard dock in Petersburg, Alaska. The solicitation will be posted to FedBizOpps on or about April 30, 2002 for viewing and printing. Prospective offerors are requested to obtain the solicitation documents via the Internet if at all possible. Offers will be due approximately 30 days after the solicitation issue date. Potential bidders are responsible for checking this site for any amendments to the solicitation that may be issued. No hard copies of amendments will be sent out.
