- Description
- Note 22 applies. Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division intents to enter into a contract with Lane Construction Company for the reconstruction of 12 test pavements. The project consists of the reconstruction of 12 test pavements at the FHWA Pavement Testing Facility at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, VA. The 12 test pavements are to be used for research involving the specification and use of modified asphalt binders, the validation of the 2002 Pavement Design Guide, use of crumb rubber-modified asphalt pavements, and the development and verification of Superpave Simple Performance Test for asphalt mixtures. The existing asphalt surface layer in the pavement test lanes will be removed. The 12 proposed test pavements would then be constructed at various pavement thicknesses, using numerous asphalt binder modifiers and fibers. Also, as part of this project, a 2" asphalt overlay will be placed on the employee parking area located adjacent ot the Pavement Testing Facility. The estimated value of this acquisition is $150,000.00.
