Description
The National Cancer Institute(NCI), Vascular Biology Faculty, intends to co-sponsor the 2002 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Society Therapy, in San Diego, California. The proposed contractor is the Society for Biological Therapy, 611 East Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202. The purpose of this meeting is to assemble leaders in the field of biological therapy for cancer from the United States, Europe and Japan to present and discuss the latest cutting-edge basic, pre-clinical and clinical findings in the discipline. The meeting will be held from November 7-10, 2002. Program participants will include several hundred investigators from the extramural academic community, pharmaceutical industry, regulatory agencies, intramural community to review the state-of-the-art in biological therapy for cancer. Research topics will include session on cytokines angiogenesis, gene therapy, vaccine/DC antibodies, high throughput screening applications for the identification and investigation of new biologics and anti-cancer agents in development. The Society for Biological therapy sponsors this key meeting each year, with rotating co-sponsors. The key purpose is to bring together international experts in the field of angiogenesis to review the current status of methods to monitor the efficacy of anti-angiogenic therapies in clinical trials and to make recommendations regarding standards and new directions. The Center for Cancer Research is responsible for, among other objectives, fostering collaborative interactions and intellectual exchange among leading basic and clinical scientists within and beyond the NIH intramural program in cutting-edge basic research, as well as therapeutic/translational techniques and technologies. In exchange for co-sponsorship of this conference and workshop, the Society for Biological Therapy will provide a well-recognized forum for intellectual exchange, virtually insuring that the meeting will be well-attended by the international leaders from both academia and the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, the Vascular Bilogy Faculty will participate and co-author the recommendations for the "Angiogenesis Monitoring Workshop" to be published in March 2003. The Society for Biological Therapy is the primary sponsor and only known source to the Government that can serve as primary sponsor of a symposium focusing on biological therapies in the area of cancer treatment and prevention. The symposium is one of the key national forums to bring together leaders in the relevant fields, to showcase recent achievements and foster synergistic interactions to move research in these areas forward. This is not a request for competitive proposal quotation. However, if any interested party believes they can provide the above services, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the Government to determine if the source is capable of providing the above services. The statement of capabilities must be received in the contracting officers office by 2:00 P.M. EST, on April 26, 2002. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
