Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division intends to procure on an other than full and open competition research and samples of BAMO/NMMO. The requirement is sole sourced to Flourochem Inc., 680 Sayon Ave. Azusa CA 91702, for their unique capabilities to produce small (25 g each) experimental batches of BAMO/NMMO. Award shall be made in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Contract Lime Item Number (CLIN) 0001 is for BAMO/NMMO. A new cure reaction has been under development, which uses the azido-functions on the BAMO/NMMO for the cure. Mechanical properties of the new cured binders need improvement and it is thought that varying the BAMO percentages to lower level than 70% and varying the locations of the BAMO groups on the polymer will result in improved mechanical properties. The contractor will synthesize small samples of BAMO/NMMO of varying BAMO content in order to perform evaluations. The contractor will provide a 6 month research program with the principal objective being to show feasibility of approached and samples of the products will be submitted to NAWS in approximately 25 g each. Any firms believing that they can provide the services required may submit a written response to be received at the Contracting Office no later than 5 days after the date of publication of this notice, clearly showing it's ability to do so without compromising the quality, accuracy and reliability of the data or without causing programmatic hardship to the program. Respond to Sue Casey, by mail at the above address, or email caseyse@navair.navy.mil or fax (760) 939-3095. Award will be made on or about 06 May 2002.
