- Description
- The Forest Service intends to issue a Request for Proposals for construction of a new water distribution system that includes buried water lines, valves and appurtenances, fire hydrants, tanker fill, connection to existing buildings and irrigation systems. The proposal includes two additive items: Additive #1 is the construction of a new 40,000-gallon bolted steel water storage tank and the dismantling of a redwood storage tank, the construction of a metal water treatment building and the installation of new water transmission line, electrical and telephone service, and the relocation of a government furnished water treatment plant from the existing treatment building to the new treatment building. Additive #2 includes construction of an access trail for the replacement of an existing collection line, rehabilitation of an existing collection line, and redevelopment of the spring sources and installation of a new collection line. This work encompasses the water collection system from the spring sources to the new water treatment plant. Construction activities associated with the spring collection line shall be restricted to a time frame from August 30th to October 15th. Work common to all items includes locating existing utilities, construction staking, traffic control, clearing and grubbing, erosion control, excavation and backfill, waste disposal, pipeline installation, testing and disinfection, asphalt concrete trench patching, demolition, concrete work, electrical work and plumbing. Work is expected to begin approximately April 1, with a contract time of 180 days. The project is located at the Mad River Ranger District in Trinity County, California. From Eureka, CA, take Hwy 101 south to Hwy 36. Follow Hwy 36 west to Dinsmore. Continue following Hwy 36 approximately 5 miles past Dinsmore to the Mad River Forest Service Compound on the left side of the road.. A pre-proposal tour is scheduled for February 26 at 9:00 a.m. at the project site. Price range is between $250,000 to $500,000. A 20% bid bond will be required. Performance and payment bonds of 100% each will be required of the contractor awarded this project. This project is unrestricted and is not set-aside for small business concerns. The NAICS code is 234910. The Government will award the contract to the offeror whose proposal represents the best value to the Government based on the merits of the proposal for: technical approach, past performance, experience of project personnel, capacity to perform, and price. Solicitation documents will be available at this FedBizOpps website on approximately February 11. The closing date for receipt of proposals is March 13, 4:30 p.m. local time.
