- Description
- The U. S. Coast Guard is considering whether or not to set aside an acquisition for HUBZone concerns only. The estimated value of this procurement (including the base period and all option years) is between $100,000.00 and $500,000.00. The small business size standard is less than 1,000 employees. The acquisition is for maintenance and repairs of numerous 47 foot Motor Life Boats whose homeports are in various locations throughout the First Coast Guard District and include locations in the States of Connecticut, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Repairs are to be performed at the contractor?s facility. A Firm Fixed Price, Indefinite Delivery Contract is expected. The performance period is for a base period of one (01) year with four (04) one year option years. This work will include, but is not limited to: Base items: (1) Welding Repairs (2) Renew Rub Rail (3) Renew Rub Rail Fasteners (4) remove, inspect and reinstall buoyancy chamber (5) remove, inspect and reinstall propeller shafts (6) renew strut (7) straighten shaft (8) renew propulsion shaft strut and stern tube bearings (9) remove, inspect and reinstall propeller (10) perform minor repair and reconditioning of propeller (11) overhaul, renew and test valves (12) inspect and overhaul steering gear (13) remove, inspect and reinstall rudder assembly (14) renew rudder bearings (15) preserve underwater body; and routine drydocking. Option items: (1) Composite Labor Rate, (2) Lay Days and (3) GFE Reporting. Trained welders, who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures, shall accomplish all welding and brazing. At the present time, this acquisition will be issued under full and open competition procedures. However, in accordance with FAR 19.1305, if your firm is HUBZone certified and intends to submit an offer on this acquisition, please respond by e-mail to mcorse@mlca.uscg.mil or by fax (757) 628-4675/76. In your response please include the following: (a) a positive statement of your intent to submit a bid for this solicitation as a prime contractor; (b) evidence of experience in work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project titles, dollar amounts, points of contact and telephone numbers and (c) past performance references with points of contact and phone numbers. At least two references are requested, but more are desirable. Your response is required by April 15, 2002. All of the above must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on a HUBZone set aside. Failure to submit all information requested may result in an unrestricted acquisition. A decision on whether this will be pursued as a HUBZone small business set aside or on an unrestricted basis will be posted in the GPE.
