- Description
- The Government intends to purchase on a sole source basis 15 each Filter Housing Assemblies and 1 Upper Unit Modular Filter UTS and 1 Lower Unit Modular Filter UTS from Anderson Metal Industries, Incorporated, 1385 Pittsburgh Road, Franklin, Pennsylvania 16323. These items are necessary for installation as part of the Shipboard CPS Backfit Program. The filter housing assemblies must meet the stringent tolerance requirements in order to interface properly with U.S. Navy CBR filter sets as per direction of NAVSEA DWG #53711 - DL6573690 and NSWCDD CPS BACKFIT DWGS# LHD-0300, LHD-0301, and LHD-0302. Anderson Metal Industries is the only known manufacturer of these items. No other source could acquire the special tooling needed and provide the complete assemblies by the required date of 10 May 2002. The successes of the CPS Backfit installations depend heavily on the quality and timely performance of the CBR filter housing assemblies within requirements.
