- Description
- During the FY03 time frame, the Product Manager for Small Arms at the U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command, U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC) may release an acquisition for the manufacture and delivery of approximately 61,000 each M1001 40mm canister cartridges. The M1001 Canister Cartridge is fired from the MK19 Mod 3 Grenade Machine Gun (GMG) and is capable of providing effective anti-personnel capability from weapon muzzle to 100 meters. The Canister Cartridge, when fired in a 3-5 round burst at a target consisting of seven 2 x 6 M-sized silhouettes standing vertically side-by-side shall provide a P(h) of 57% threshold (4 of 7 panels receiving hits) and shall demonstrate the capability of defeating the standard issue PASGT type vest at 100 meters. Performance requirements will be in accordance with MIL-PRF-12991142, and the performance specification will be available on ProcNet, http://procnet.pica.army.mil, for download.
