Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons intends to award a non-personal service contract to a qualified entity to provide professional orthopedic services to Federal offenders held in custody of the Department of Justice located at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Federal Detention Center (FDC), and the Federal Prison Camp (FPC), located at 5701 8th Street, Camp Parks, Dublin, CA 94568. The contract will be for a Base Year: Date of Award through 12 months from date of award, Option Year #1: 13 months through 24 months from date of award, Option Year #2: 25 months through 36 months from date of award, Option Year #3: 37 months through 48 months from date of award, Option Year #4: 49 months through 60 months from date of award. The Government has unilateral authority to exercise each of four option years. All services provide shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the contractor's field of expertise, including but limited to to providing diagnosis and medical and/or surgical treatment of orthopedic disorders by a licensed physician board certified in Orthopedics. Proficiency in the following is required: 1) Joint injection for pain, 2) Medical management of fractures with casting, 3) Tendon, ligament and muscle repair, 4) Diagnosis and treatment of disc disease, 5) Carpal tunnel evaluation and surgery, 6) Diagnosis and treatment of other referred patients with conditions that would normally be treated by a physician board certified in orthopedics in the community. These services shall be provided during regular work hours every other Thursday from 8:30AM to 11:30AM,(excluding federal holidays). One session equals three (3) hours, every other week, estimated at twenty-six (26) sessions a year. Approximately 15 patients will be scheduled each visit. It is anticipated that this solicitation will result in a Firm Fixed Requirements type contract. It is anticipated that the solicitation shall be available on the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities via the internet at http://www.fedbizopps.gov, FAR 5.207, on or about March 27, 2002. Hard copies of the solicitation document will not be available except in extreme circumstances and only if issuance in this manner is determined to be in the Government's best interest. All future information about this acquisition, including amendments, will be distributed through this site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition.
