- Description
- In order to fulfill its obligations under the National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act, The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source procurement with The National Cooperation for Laboratory Accreditation (NACLA) to evaluate laboratory accreditation bodies (AB's) and recognize those AB's as competent as a basis for NIST provision of assurances to other governments under Mutual Recognition Agreements. The proposed requirement is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). NACLA is uniquely qualified due to its specialized knowledge of accreditation and its partnership of the public and private sectors. NACLA is comprised of government and private sector laboratories, accreditation bodies, and users of laboratory accreditation. The Government anticipates an award of a firm-fixed price purchase order on or about April 1, 2002. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities to respond to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses from this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) is not available.
