NA This acquisition is the second phase of the two step acquisition process. Phase 1 was for pre-qualification of contractors. That was accomplished under solicitation number DACW31-01-R-0041 (Construction and/or Renovation to Cleveland, Noyes and Thomson E lementary School for the District of Columbia Public Schools, Washington, DC Cleveland Elementary School is the second school for modernization/renovations as a result of phase 1 of this two-step process. Under the two-step acquisition method bids will only be accepted from the pre-qualified contractors. Interested parties are re sponsible for doing their own marketing. The project description as originally published under DACW31-01-R-0041 is repeated for information: Phase I Request for Qualifications (RFP) solicitation is posted to the Baltimore District Corps of Engineers web site located at https://ebs.nab.usace.army.mil/. Under the second step Invitations for Bids (IFB) will be issued only to those offerors who su bmitted an acceptable technical proposal during step one. The acceptable pre-approved General Contractors are shown below: Davis/HRGM Joint Venture, 12500 Parklawn Dr., Rockville, MD 20852; Hess Construction Co., 704 Quince Orchard Rd., Gaithersburg, MD 20878; Sigal Construction Corp., 3299 K St., NW, Washington, DC 20007; Coakley-Williams Construction, 6 S. Summit Ave., Gaith ersburg, MD 20877; Sherman R. Smoot Construction, 3 Skyline Pl., Falls Church, VA 22041; San Jose Construction Group, Inc., 2600 Virginia Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20037; W.M. Schlosser Co., Inc., 2400 51st Place, Hyattsville, MD 20781; Forrester Constructi on Co., 12231 Parklawn Drive, Rockville, MD 20852-1723; Grunley Construction Co., 5010 Nicholson Lane, Rockville, MD 20852; Cleveeland Elementary School: Cleveland Elementary School is located at 1825 8th Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20011-3135. The project consists of the renovation of a 3 story plus grade level masonry elementary school and the construction of an approximate ly 3-story addition. The existing school was constructed in 1911 and is a contributing structure to the Greater ?U? Street historic district. The existing school is approximately 38,000 gross square feet. The building?s structural system is primarily structural steel. The exterior walls are brick with concrete masonry unit (CMU) back up. The renovation will include the demolition and replacem ent of all existing mechanical, electrical (including low-voltage), plumbing, fire protection, and security systems, the replacement of the windows with new to match the existing profiles and the relocation of an existing egress stair. The addition is app roximately 14,000 gross square feet. The foundation system will consist of spread concrete footings. The exterior finish will be a patterned brick and cast stone veneer, with some storefront. Interior finishes will typically consist of sheet linoleum flo oring, painted CMU walls, and above ceiling tile (ACT) drop-in ceilings, although special rooms will have other finishes such as ceramic or terrazzo tile and carpet. Mechanical, electrical (including low-voltage), plumbing, fire protection, and security s ystems will also be part of the project, as will an elevator. The project site is a little over ? acre. Site work includes the demolition and new construction of a masonry retaining wall, providing new sidewalks and curb cuts, providing new fencing and constructing a new arch marking the entry to the site. Landscap ing work will include planting shrubs and small trees around the building, as well as providing trees, grass, and other miscellaneous plantings. Construction of a playground with a soft surface play area and new play structure is also part of the project . An award of three firm fixed price contracts is contemplated based on the lowest bid for each school project. However, and offeror who is the lowest bidder on more than one project may be reviewed to determine their capacity and ability to perform multiple projects. Cleveland Elementary School must be completed in approximately 425 days each. The offerors are advised that all projects will be on accelerated schedules requiring the work to be accomplished on a greater than norma l work hours basis. These proposed Modernization/Renovation procurements are unrestricted, SIC 1542 NAICS 233320 $27.5 million. Estimated cost of construction is between $10,000,000.00 and $20,000,000.00.
