Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Coherent Laser Group for an combination Ti:Sapphire/Dye ring laser with the following critical specifications: 1) Ability to use any laser dye pumped with an Argon ion laser for operation from 525 nm to 700 nm. 2) Capable of easy conversion to a Ti:Sapphire laser also pumped with an Argon ion laser for operation from 700 nm to 1000 nm. 3) Both configurations must use a single frequency ring laser cavity and have < 10 MHz linewidth. 4) Both configurations must contain the usual components for a ring laser cavity, ie: optical diode, birefringent tuning, etalon(s) for line narrowing. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
