Description

USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Point Mills/Dollar Bay Torch Lake EPA Superfund Site project located in Houghton County, Michigan consisting of the placement of 6 inch layer of earthen cover over approximately 118 acres of stamp sand. Major items of construction are as follows: Structure Removal, Onsite Disposal (Lump Sum); Structure Removal, Offsite Disposal (Lump Sum); Pollution Control (Lump Sum); Seeding and Mulching (109.4 Acres); Seeding and Mulching, Residential (11.5 Acres); Mobilization and Demobilization (Lump Sum); Access Road, Type 1 (5,267 L.F.); Access Road, Type 2 (7,327 L.F.); Access Road, Type 3 (4,037 L.F.); Regrading Area (Lump Sum); Drainfill (149 S.Y.); Diversions and Waterways (7,171 L.F.); Culvert, 24" (440 L.F.); Corrugated Polyethylene Tubing, 8" ( 273 L.F.); Shoreline Protection, Riprap (8,243 L.F.); Lined Channel/Outlet Protection (1,557 S.Y.); Gate, Type 3 (Each); Chain Link Fence (3,142.6 L.F.); Gate, Type 1 (2 Each); Gate, Type 2 (2 Each); Fence (120 L.F.);Cover material (109.4 Acres); Cover Material, Residential (11.9 Acres); Shoreline Protection, Lake Access (2,795 S.Y.) and Field Office (Lump Sum). Estimated cost is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Solicitation will be available via FEDBIZOPPS on or about March 27, 2002. Site showing will be held on April 25, 2002 at 1:00 PM(EDT) at the UPPCO Building, 600 East Lakeshore Drive, Houghton, MI 49931. The bid opening will be held at the same location on May 20, 2002 at 1:00 PM(EDT). Notice to proceed is expected to be issued on or about May 31, 2002 with construction to begin June 10, 2002. Performance time is 152 calendar days. Liquidated damages will be assessed at $1,200.00 per day. A bid guarantee of 20% of the bid amount must accompany the bid proposal. PLEASE NOTE: Contractor will be required to follow the USDA, NRCS Safety Plan and all site workers including subcontractors will require the 24-hour Hazwoper Training prior to any construction activity. No material from the jobsite, including cleared and grubbed material, shall be burned on or off site. This is a requirement of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
