- Description
- NRL seeks new and novel techniques in the following basic technical areas: (1) optical multiplexing and demultiplexing technologies that can multiplex and demultiplex optical wavelengths based on knowing their center frequency and data rate (or passband); (2) technologies which enable the transmission of a signal and the maintenance of its integrity in a transparent optical network through an appropriate combination of optical regeneration and/or Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) compensation and residual Chromatic Dispersion (CD) compensation in the presence of Amplified Spontaneous Emissions (ASE). By "residual CD compensation" we mean that compensation required after static chromatic dispersion compensation has been applied to the links in the network on a link by link basis; (3) Additional key technical areas that the responder considers essential to demonstrate to meet the objectives of this effort.
