- Description
- BBWI is pursuing patent protection on the following technology. Bechtel BWXT of Idaho Inc., LLC (BBWI), P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805 INVENTION SUMMARY: CMPO is directly incorporated into an inert polyacrylonitrile porous matrix without the use of organic solvents and in an environmentally acceptable manufacturing process. Preferred CMPO loadings are in the twenty (20) to thirty (30) weight percent range and higher loadings have been demonstrated. CMPO-PAN can be prepared in particle sizes ranging from <100 micron to 1 mm. CMPO-PAN impregnated filter media has the potential for direct analysis of loaded filters thereby simplifying analytical methods by saving process steps, reducing the volume of generated waste and lowering the toxicity of the waste. Dilute sample concentrations found in the field can be concentrated and only the filter media needs to be transported to a laboratory or field location for analysis. Both CMPO-PAN solid extractant particles and impregnated filter media have been demonstrated to be highly effective in removing actinides (U, Pu, Am), rare earth elements and certain transition metals (Fe, Zr). Contact Mr. Gary W. Smith. Potential technology development and licensing opportunity with BBWI, the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). BBWI is soliciting a written indication of interest from industry partners interested in entering into a license agreement for the purpose of commercializing this technology. License terms will include an up-front licensing fee and a running royalty based on a percentage of sales. This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to BBWI or the DOE. This solicitation will close to response sixty (60) days after publication. Interested parties should send a description of their company and their plans to commercialize this technology to the following address: Gary W. Smith, Sr. Account Executive, Technology Transfer and Commercialization, BBWI, P. O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805. E-mail is smitgw@inel.gov. A description of the technology follows.
