- Description
- The intent of this solicitation is to provide a mandatory shuttle bus system for visitors to access the Reds Meadow area. The Reds Meadow area also includes the Devils Postpile National Monument. The contractor will provide a shuttle bus system that is mandatory for all but "exception vehicles". Each bus driver shall have a current California Class B driver"s license, and each bus shall be properly licensed. The shuttle bus system is part of a Forest Service Fee Demonstration Project, known as the Reds Meadow Fee Demo project. The project is located on the Inyo National Forest, Mammoth/Mono Lake Ranger Districts. The Reds Meadow Fee Demonstration Project area is located in the upper Middle Fork of the San Joaquin river basin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Reds Meadow is located in Madera County, but the only road access to the area is via Mono County and the Town of Mammoth Lakes. The entrance to Reds Meadow is located at the end of State Hwy 203. The Town of Mammoth Lakes is located on State Hwy 203, accessed from the scenic Highway 395 corridor. The Town of Mammoth Lakes is approximately 45 miles north of Bishop, California and approximately 180 miles south of Reno, Nevada. The contract will be for one year, with option to renew yearly through 2004. The anticipated period of performance each year will be from June 15-October 15. The solicitation is being prepared per the requirements of PART 12 of the FAR for Commercial Items. This will be an unrestricted solicitation; it will NOT be set-aside for small business. The NAICS classification is 487110 with a $5.0 million size standard. The REQUST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) solicitation will be available and posted in FedBizOpps approximately March 8, 2002. Responses are due on April 1, 2002 by close of business (4:30 pm).
