Description
This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). 6 X 9 PREFORMS UTILIZING LAYER TO LAYER WEAVE, T300 FIBER PER ATTACHED STATEMENT OF WORK * QUANTITY REQUIRED 8 EACH. 5HW 8 EPI X 2 3K TOW T300 FIBER - 28 INCHES WIDE X 12B YARDS LONG * QUANTITY REQUIRED 1 LOT STATEMENT OR WORK: 1.) Offeror shall fabricate four (8) 3D woven performs using a modified angle interlock, ply-to-ply weave, as shown in the attached drawings labeled as low crimp weave. ?A total of nine plies shall be included, for a maximum thickness of 0.100 inches. ?Pick column spacing is to be 16/inch. ?Pick ends per unit length = 72 ?Warp ends per unit width = 13. ?Warp spacing = 16/inch. ?Fiber is Toray T300, 3K tow. Each pick and each warp weaver represents a single tow 2.) Offeror shall weave 5 HS fabric 28 inches wide by 12 yards long using 2 tows. plied together at a spacing of 8 ends per inch. Fiber is Toray T300, 3K tow. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the item from Albany International Techniweave. THIS IS A SOLE SOURCE. The fabric and performs being woven under this procurement will be used to fabricate CMC composite panels for direct comparison with those fabricated under a pervious NASA contract. It is necessary to keep all variable of the weaving process (fiber handling, spooling, tension) constant, so as to have a direct comparison of the effects of varying the fiber architecture. This notice is for information purposes only. The provisions and clauses in the RFQ are those in effect through FAC 97-27. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The NAICS Code and the small business size standard for this procurement are 313210 & 1000 respectively. The quoter shall state in their quotation their size status for this procurement. The DPAS rating for this procurement is DO-C9.
