Description
The United States Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Engineering Field Activity Mediterranean issues a notice of intent to bid for the construction of a Skills Development Center at Aviano Air Base, Aviano, Italy. The project involves the demolition of an existing structure and provide a new structure of approximately 670m2. The new structure will be of reinforced concrete foundation, reinforced concrete frame and fill masonry walls and reinforced concrete roof slab with metal standing seam roofing. The other part of the project is the total renovation of an adjacent existing high bay structure of approximately 900m2. The existing structure to be renovated has reinforced concrete frame, infill masonry wall and reinforced concrete roof with saw tooth skylight at each of the high bays. For the renovated building, all architectural finishes will be renewed. The existing roofing shall be replaced with metal standing seam roofing at the saw tooth areas, and bituminous roofing at the flat roof areas. The New structure and the structure to be renovated are interconnected and will be used as a Hobby, Skills Development Facility. The Facility has the Wood work shop, Metal work shop, Automobile repair shop, Ceramic workshop and other arts and crafts shops for the use by military personnel and family members. Other functions such as office spaces, storage spaces area also required. A metal frame mezzanine structure in the high bay building is also required as part of the project. All the work shops will be provided with necessary equipment, ready to use. The entire project will have new Heating, Ventilation, electrical power, lighting installation, telephone fire alarm and wet pipe fire suppression sprinkler systems. Some minor site work is required for the utilities connection, repair existing paving, some new paving and minor landscape work. All U.S. applicants must be certified by the NATO procurement officer of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office Of Telecommunications Technologies.
