Description
NA On or about 07 February 2002, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of PUEBLO CHEMICAL DEPOT ACCESS ROAD, PUEBLO, CO. Bids will be opened on or about 12 March 2002. THIS SOLICITATION IS RESTRICTED TO 8A COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR 8A CONTRACTORS WITHIN THE COLORADO SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DISTRICT. NAICS 23411 (FORMERLY SIC 1611) Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact the Fort Carson Resident Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bldg. 849, 4760 O'Connell Blvd, Fort Carson, CO 80913-4010, Telephone: (719) 526-5448. FAX (719) 526-5365. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Ordering below. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) This project consists of building a new access road, approximately seven (7) miles in length over an existing asphalt road. The existing road has a base course of approximate 6 inches and a top layer of asphalt at 3 inches. Contractor shall reclaim all e xisting asphalt pavement (RAP) on the existing road. The new access road will over lay the existing road with an 8-inch grade-crushed aggregate and a 3-inch hot mix. Some areas will be identified with new road construction, which will consist of 14 inches of graded-crushed aggregate (GCA) and 3-inch hot mix. All roads will be 24 feet in width, with a 4-foot shoulder of 14-inch GCA on each side and tapered down using a 1-4 slope the next 8 feet starting with 14-inch GCA. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 540 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
