Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Midac Corporation of Irvine, CA, for one (1) each Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) System, Model #I2001, to be used in conjunction with NIST's existing Midac Spectrometer in the analysis of combustion products from experimental fires in NISTs' full-scale fire facility and off-site.***Sole source determination is based on the need for this FTIR system to be completely compatible, both hardware and software, with NIST's existing Midac system. This will enable use of specialized detectors and interferometers which NIST had built for their existing Midac instrument. Additionally, purchase of the Midac system shall ensure 100% compatibility between the spectral data collected on each spectrometer.***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by January 23, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
