- NA The U.S. Army Engineer District, New Orleans, LA, has a requirement for construction skills job training services. These services will be under the Community Impact Mitigation Plan for the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Lock Replacement Project in New Orle ans, LA. This procurement is advertised as 'unrestricted'. The target area is located within Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes, LA. The construction skills job training program(s) will focus on recruitment from the targeted area, assessment of recruits, referral services, training in basic job skills, technical training in construction skills, placement services, and monitoring and support of program graduates. Construction skills training will be required in the following areas: heavy equipment operatio n, welding, ironwork, pile driving, carpentry, cement masonry, mechanics, and electricians. The Corps may award multiple firm, fixed-price contracts as a result of this solicitation. The subsequent award(s) may encompass some or all of the skills listed above. Also, the award(s) will be determined by the selection of an offeror(s), whose proposal(s) reflects the best combination of features, whether or not the offeror?s price is the lowest, i.e., best value. The term(s) of the contract(s) will be one (1 ) base year with options for four (4) additional years. The Request for Proposals, Solicitation No. DACW29-02-R-0010 will be issued February 19, 2002.
