- Description
- The Department of Veteran Affairs, VA Heartland Network 15 Business Office, Leavenworth, Kansas, is planning a sole source contract to design, fabricate, deliver and install one (1) hot cell/glovebox at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia Missouri. This combination radiation hot cell and radiation glovebox must be able to serve simultaneously. The combination of a radiation hot cell/glovebox must incorporate three separate means of radioactive material handling devices in this unit, specifically the unit incorporates external mechanical manipulators, rod manipulates (ball tongs), and neoprene glove ports. The techniques to prepare large quantities of radiopharmaceuticals for the treatment of cancer patients require that all features be incorporated into one single hot cell/glovebox unit. The incorporation of all these features in to one function hot cell/glovebox unit is essential for safe handling and preparation of radio-pharmaceuticals by research personnel. This is considered to be a sole source from Premier Technology Inc. of Pocatello, Idaho, because the unique features of this unit are not available from any other commercial manufacturer.
