Description
NA SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE: This Symposium will bring together Government and Industry to discuss issues and opportunities relevant to current developments and future trends in the Force Projection arena. This forum provides an excellent opportunity for networkin g and enhancing lines of communication in a social atmosphere. The Symposium will offer formal presentations by government and industry experts, exhibits, demonstrations, and open discussions. The featured exhibit is the Joint Venture, a 96 meter high-spee d wave-piercing sealift going sea trials by the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, catamaran, which is currently under and the Special Operations Command. This vessel is capable of traveling 40+ knots with a 1,200 ton payload. Additionally, a Joint-Logistic s-Over-the-Shore demonstration is planned. THEME: Intratheater transportation and distribution must be accomplished deliberately and precisely in order to prevent bottlenecks and other inefficiencies which could delay precious air and sea strategic lift as sets and slow the buildup of combat power in-theater. The warfighting CINC's and Joint Force Commander's ability to maintain the operations timetable depends on the flawless execution of Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration (RSO & I), and t he minimization of the logistics footprint. This Symposium will showcase the Force Projection materiel solutions that enable soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines to accomplish the mission of expediting the transition of arriving troops and materiel into combat-ready units. This Symposium will also highlight the Research and Development efforts which will result in the procurement of systems that will enable the deployment goals stated in the new Army Vision to be realized, contributing to the successful T ransformation of the Army in a Joint environment.
