Description
The Defense Distribution Center requires the necessary services, labor, material, equipment and control components to remove 18 existing Kenway S & R cranes and associated components (vice systems). Provide and install 18 new properly operating S & R Cranes, rails, necessary overhead and floor mounted components. Refurbish 18 existing end-of ?the-aisle Queue Conveyors. Provide and install new operating S & R Crane and Queue Control Systems, and the supporting electrical systems. New equipment will interface with Government Distribution Standard System (DSS) & Equipment Control System (ECS). Data requirements will be included in the solicitation. It is essential that the installation be managed to minimize disruption. The ASM consist of 18 captive S & R Cranes in 18 storage aisles. Only one isle can be worked on at a time. Each storage aisle is 195 ft long and 64 inches wide with 37 ft high tray stowage racks on both sides of each aisle. The ASM stores over 61,000 metal trays. The tray sizes are 48 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 4, 8, or 16 inches high, and the trays themselves are further sub-divided into 226,000 total individual storage locations. Each tray is capable of storing a maximum of 500 pounds of stock items. Each new S&R Crane will need to be capable of performing at least 40 full-aisle-length round-trip cycles per hours to adequately meet maximum through-put requirement. The solicitation contains additional specifications and drawings. The electronic Request for Solicitation Specification Package will be available on-line for release to the general public on or about 15 Jan 2002.
