Capacity; 7 press operations with a stroke of at least 110 inches is only required for final iron and a tonnage of 4500 ton for final head operation; sal t pot heat treat with quench, critical temperature control equipment for heat treat; zinc platter, machining and taper equipment; material handling conveyors; and ultrasonic (UT) inspection equipment. Skills required to produce the Ctg Case include: pres s operator; heat-treat expertise to control heat-treat, quench, temper of product to obtain ductility and hardness requirements; plating expert; metallurgist to test raw materials through to finished parts; UT technician to inspection 100% of finished part s; test technicians; certified inspectors; quality control engineers; design engineers; and skills needed to maintain the equipment and facilities. The general process of making this item is spherodize plate steel; cut into strips; blanked; run through 7 press operations (cup, 1st iron, 2nd iron, 3rd iron, final iron, pre-head and final head); the part is annealed between each press operations; case is then heat-treated, plated and UT inspected.
