- This is the second pre-solicitation notice (identical to the first); and its purpose is to comply with agency policy. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has a requirement to upgrade (through replacement) the burners and burner controls, assemblies and related equipment on three (3) low pressure superior model firebox boilers located at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago. The address for this project is Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), 71 West VanBuren, Chicago, Illinois, 60605. The new burners and related equipment will be capable of burning both natural gas and #2 Fuel Oil. All work and services provided must be in accordance with applicable State of Illinois and City of Chicago Codes and Standards. All work and services must be performed by a licensed boiler contractor. The magnitude of construction is between $25,000 and $100,000. The North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code is 235110, with a small business size standard of $11.5 million. Contract duration will be thirty (30) calendar days from notice to proceed. It is required that only one boiler shall be out-of-service at any time. A performance and payment bond will be required. Solicitation packages will be available approximately 12/20/01. This solicitation will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration?s Federal Business Opportunities web site http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. Hard copies of the solicitation document will not be available. All future information about this acquisition, including solicitation amendments, will be distributed solely through the referenced web-site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. All responsible small business sources may submit a bid, which shall be considered by the agency, as this project is set aside for small business. See numbered note 1.
